Craigclowan School & Nursery has announced the appointment of Mrs Helen Cook as its new Head from August 2026.

Helen brings a wealth of leadership experience spanning both the prep and primary sectors.  She has spent the past ten years as Head of Pre-Prep at Sevenoaks Prep School, where she also served as Acting Deputy Head across the whole school.  Prior to this, she was Headteacher of a rural primary school and Co-Headteacher of a large primary school.  Her breadth of experience has shaped a clear and compelling belief: that academic excellence is achieved most successfully within a nurturing, supportive environment where children feel confident, known and encouraged to do their very best.

Helen’s educational philosophy is closely aligned with Craigclowan’s, and she has a genuine affinity for the school’s warm, family-centred ethos, its ambition for high standards and its commitment to educating the whole child.  She shares our focus on preparing pupils for the future in a thoughtful, purposeful and resilient way, while also preserving the traditions and strengths that give Craigclowan its distinct character.

Helen and her family are delighted to be relocating to Scotland.  She is married to Paul, a police sergeant, and they have two sons: Eoghan, currently in his first year at the University of Stirling, and Fionn, in his second year of secondary school.  With family roots in Scotland and a home in Kinross, this next step feels both natural and meaningful for them.

Craigclowan is a school with a proud heritage and an exceptionally bright future.  Helen will provide strong, principled leadership and will work closely with pupils, staff and families to ensure every child is challenged, supported and inspired in equal measure.

We very much look forward to welcoming Helen to Craigclowan and, indeed, to the Glenalmond Schools Group community.
