At
Craigclowan School we are very lucky to
have extensive grounds, comprising of
rugby and hockey pitches, astro-turf, ski
run, car parks, tennis courts, woodlands
and wild areas, all of which are
valiantly pruned, cut, brushed, salted,
cleared and generally tamed by our
excellent groundkeeper, Donnie. However,
there was one area which had fallen into
disrepair.
The Walled Garden had been
used in previous years to grow vegetables,
(particularly potatoes), to be used in
the kitchen. It became obvious that it
was not a good use of Donnies time,
in order to produce fourteen bags of
potatoes. He concentrated on his many
other tasks and the garden became fallow.
Andy Rathborne, as a new headmaster, also
had many other more important matters on
his mind, but he knew there was an area
of the grounds which needed some care and
attention. This is where I enter the
story. My name is Mark Dibnah and I came
for interview as class teacher in April
2008. At the end of the interview Andy
said, very innocently, And I notice
from your C.V. you like gardening.
Little did I know what machinations were
afoot... |
