Learning Through Play school logo

Our aims in learning through play are:
• to create a happy, welcoming atmosphere with planned activities to stimulate children
• to encourage each child to develop as an individual to fulfil his/her potential
• to provide an extensive pre-school curriculum which caters for the child’s individual needs
• to encourage children to respect their peers, teachers and property
• to maintain a balance between free choice and teacher-directed learning

Other professional objectives are:
• to be a committed and caring staff
• to work co-operatively with children and parents

Flexible arrival hours:
Children may be brought to the pre-school between 8.30 a.m. and 9.00 a.m. (or earlier by arrangement with the Headmaster)

Pre-school sessions are:
8.30 a.m. - 12 noon (half day)
8.30 a.m. - 3.30 p.m. (full day)

Children may be collected from the pre-school in the afternoon between 2.50 p.m. and 3.30 p.m.

Essentials:
Please provide for your child:
• slip-on gym shoes
• a photograph for your child’s folder
• a lunch box with your child’s name, containing a snack and/or lunch

(Painting smocks are provided)

Your permission is also requested to allow staff to take photographs or videos of pre-school activities. Please let us know if you object to such photography, otherwise we will assume permission as been granted.

It is important that children are brought into the classroom to say “good morning” to the teachers. This encourages good manners and ensures that we are aware of who is present in class.

Please help your child to change into his/her gym shoes before entering the classroom.

If children are to be collected by someone other than a parent or carer, it is important that the details are forwarded to the class teachers.

Pre-school outings are carefully planned to link with current topics. Transport is by seat-belted buses and parental consent will be required.

Due to allergic reactions in young children, the pre-school is a NUT FREE zone.

Children are actively encouraged to bring small portions of healthy food for their snack and lunch in a cool bag or lunchbox with an ice pack.

We discourage children from bringing toys to school in order to avoid loss or damage.

If your child requires medication of any kind, please inform the class teacher regarding its administration and arrange to sign the appropriate consent form. Please also inform the pre-school staff of any infectious illness.
