Trip to the ICT Room

08 Feb 2012

On our trip to the ICT Room to play a number game on the Smart Board, we saw three little birds scraping for food on the frosty ground. We decided to make some food for them to eat and we were counting, sorting and threading Cherios for a bird snack during this cold winter weather. We threaded the Cherios then hung them on the trees and bushes outdoors.  We have been monitoring the amount of Cherios the birds have eaten and they are disappearing fast!! We will have to keep up our Cherio supply until Spring time!

Chinese New Year Celebrations

26 Jan 2012

All the children enjoyed a visit from Mrs. Denny (Ewan and Emma’s mum) who informed us about Chinese New Year customs. She very kindly provided a selection of Chinese food and assisted the children in preparing the dishes prior to supervising a delicious tasting exercise! We were all able to help in the cooking of the dishes and we all loves noodles!! Better still – we love tasting the varieties of Chinese food!

We wish Chinese New Year could be celebrated every week!! Thank you Mrs. Denny!

Our Burns’ Ceilidh Party

25 Jan 2012

We had a wonderful time at our Ceilidh Party on Burns’ Day! Mrs. Clark was playing her violin while we danced and sung and then our handsome bagpipers came and tested our ear-drums while we danced some more!! There were lots of tartan lads and lassies at the Ceilidh and we decided to design our own Craigclowan Tartan with colourful paints and fine brushes. The dancers! The Tartan Lads and Lassies! Craigclowan Kilt Design Company!

The haggis and neeps were enjoyed by most of the children but the tatties were enjoyed by all of them!!

Our Daffodil Plants have Missed Us

12 Jan 2012

Our daffodil plants have missed us during the holidays and we have been topping up their pots to make sure they have enough water to encourage them to grow in time for Spring.

We have been comparing the growth of the daffodil plants in their individual pots during our outdoor maths exercises this week. Joshua thought we ought to measure the plant growth with a tape measure. Zoe selected a ruler and Thomas opted for a measuring stick. Serious debate followed the activity with regard to whose measuring tool registered the biggest number!
