Craigclowan 60th Birthday Celebrations

26th January 2012
Dear Parents,
The PTA would like to thank you for your hugely positive response to the Dinner Dance email sent out last week.
A large majority of you supported the idea, so we are delighted to announce that the dinner Dance WILL go ahead on Friday 18 May at Perth Racecourse. Further details will follow very shortly.  If you would like to secure a table now, then email Sonia Fleming at soniaandbryan1@btinternet.com.

The committee chose CHAS as a charity to support, instead of raising money for school, because you have already supported PTA fund-raising events, such as the Christmas Fayre. There was support for this idea, but there was also a strong feeling that we should be raising money to benefit the School. So, we are currently looking into a way that we can balance both these elements.

Some of you suggested a Family Ceilidh to include the children. The PTA would like to reassure you that this idea has been listened to, and is being strongly considered for the next academic year. The 60th Birthday of the School will bring other opportunities this year for the children to become involved.

There were some people suggesting that former pupils, parents and teachers should be invited to any School Birthday celebration. This will absolutely be the case, and we are keen to encourage a lively mix of present parents, teachers, and Governors with people who have a former connection with Craigclowan.

Lastly, this event can only be a success with your patronage. It will be a unique chance to honour Craigclowan's first 60 years, and we hope that many of you will support it.

Regards,
PTA Committee

Aims of Craigclowan PTA

1. To organise social events throughout the school year for parents, staff, and their families. Currently we organise several BBQs and a Welcome Coffee Morning, a Quiz Night, a Golf Evening and a Christmas Fayre. Our form reps. also organise their own events during the year. We can offer information to parents about the Craigclowan community.

2. To raise funds for items outwith the school's budget which benefit pupils, teachers and parents. In the past we have bought a dividing net for the astroturf, playground markings, BBQ and outdoor tables and gazebos, protective flooring for the sports hall and added two interactive whiteboards to the school's existing stock.

3. To run a second hand uniform shop for parents to buy and sell uniform. Buyers benefit from the low price and sellers can receive 50% of any uniform sold.

4. To give help to teachers. Traditionally this has been the organisation of the Pre-school and Junior Christmas parties and refreshments at the Forms 1 to 5 Christmas Concerts.
If you would like to get involved with the PTA, can offer any help with any our calendar events, have any opinions or feedback, please get in touch with any committee member or email: pta@craigclowan-school.co.uk
