Dear
Parents,
I suppose that having had three inspections in
the past year we should now be well used to the
routine. However, the stresses and strains
involved become no less as each one passes,
although I am delighted to report that the Care
Commission Inspection of the Pre-school, for
which the report is now published, found nothing
but praise and made no recommendations for
improvement! Everyone involved in the process,
but particularly the staff, are to be
congratulated on the outcome. The report praised
the staff, the positive nature of the parental
feed-back, the quality of communication with
parents, the quality of the facilities, the
warmth and genuine affection shown by the staff
for the children, the positive nature of the
interaction between staff and children, the
quality of the resources available and the
ability of the staff to identify areas to improve
the service even further.

Looking a
little bit into the future for the Pre-school,
the new building is well passed the halfway stage
and I am delighted to say that it is on time and
on budget, and I am keeping my fingers crossed
that the same will be true on the completion date
of July 16th! Part of the reorganisation that
will follow the completion of that building will
be that the Pre-school will be able to spread its
wings a little and take over the upstairs floor
immediately above the present classrooms and
presently occupied by the art room. This will
effectively double the space available to the
children in the Pre-school. There are no plans to
increase numbers as a result but the additional
space will enable even more activities to be
undertaken and, of course, to be undertaken in a
roomier atmosphere. More details of how the
upstairs will be used will follow during the
course of the next few months.
Thinking of September again, enrolments for Form
I are complete and currently I am operating a
waiting list. I am grateful to everyone who has
enrolled early because this obviously makes it so
much easier for me to know what my limits are
with regard to enrolling children from outside.
If there is anyone still who has not enrolled for
September, or wishes to discuss such an enrolment,
then please do not hesitate to let me know.
Equally, if there are any older brothers and
sisters who you might like to think about
enrolling then let me know as the demand for
places through the school continues to be
excellent.

I will be
available on Thursday and Friday of this week for
any appointments that you might like to have with
me, but at the weekend Angela and I are
travelling to New Zealand for two weeks and will
be back to work on Friday, April 15th. The office
will be manned by Wendy throughout the holiday so
please feel free to leave a message if there are
any pressing matters.
Thank you again for all your help and we look
forward to seeing everyone back at the beginning
of next term.
