A Typical School Week:
We continue to take part in the Junior Assemblies. These happen on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Tuesday - Sharing Assembly. Thursday - Birthday Assembly. Friday - Class Assemblies.

Lessons:
In addition to classroom based lessons such as Language, Number, Science, Religious Studies and Art, the children take part in weekly Gym, Music and Ocarina lessons which are given by specialist teachers.

We learn about one topic per term. We actively encourage the children to bring in anything to show relating to the subjects! Equipment.

Please could each child have the following in school:

  • A variety of colouring pencils
  • Lead pencils, a rubber & sharpener
Please ensure all items are clearly named.

Games:

Due to our changeable weather, full games kit should be brought in to school on both occasions and we encourage it to be taken home for washing after each lesson.

After School Activities:
Form 3 pupils are able to continue their participation in Scottish Country Dancing on Tuesdays.
Skiing will continue to take place on selected days.

Lunch Time Activities:
The Junior Choir will continue to meet at lunch times.

Theatrical productions:
The children take part in a performance at Christmas and the climax of the year is always the summer term production!

Prep:
All homework which is set will be written down in the daily prep diary. Homework will normally include both number and spelling tasks, though not necessarily on the same night. Prep should normally not take longer than 30 minutes.

Reading:
The children will have reading homework every night which is to be completed, as usual with parental supervision, discussed and signed with any relevant comments. At the weekend the children will normally read a Puffin book instead of their reading book.

Spelling:
The children will be given spelling each week where they will be asked to write out words a number of times and learn them. The words will be accompanied by a worksheet. There will also be worksheets to accompany the spelling words.

Number:
This will vary and could take the form of a sheet, sums in their jotter or tables.

Tests:
Children will get a weekly class test on the preps set for that week. Thursday’s prep will prepare the children for the tests.

We hope you look forward to the exciting year ahead as much as we do!
